Status Report 12/2/08
Judging from the number of emails you folks sent, you must not be very serious about the issue. Talking to Ellen TausherŐs office, I find that they are getting a number of emails, but most of them assume LLNS has the right to take over our medical benefits. My opinion is that if we start with that assumption, we are wasting our time. At best, they will back off on some of the cuts in the near term to quiet the flack, but will reinstitute them later. If we establish that UC is responsible, we will regain the security provided by the University and DOE will not be able to bite us later. The moral of the story is that if you want something done, you need to help. If you didnŐt send emails, please reconsider.
LLNS is having meetings on retiree benefits at 10:00 and 3:00 at the same place as the previous Livermore Open Enrollment meetings. I donŐt know who was invited, but certainly not me. I intend to go and do some more recruiting.
I have submitted requests for help to two law firms that were recommended to me and have the expertise to help with the problem. I also submitted letters to the editor yesterday. I havenŐt had any feedback yet.
